What Are Cats Doing In The Middle Of The Night?

KiKi is our Siamese rescue cat. When my wife Joy worked for a local veterinarian she was brought in by some folks who discovered her in a muddy, wet salt marsh, obviously abandoned and left to survive on her own...I will not comment on the human being who made this decision; suffice it to say that Karma has a way of coming back around--but I digress.

Joy brought her home and frankly I was not ready for another cat. Our last Siamese had recently passed and I was very attached to Simba. I just did not want to put my emotions out there so soon for another little animal. Well, it did not take long for her to win over my heart. She had respiratory problems from being left out in the wet and cold, she had eye infections and other maladies that the vet had treated and was recovering under Joy's watchful eye. She could fit in the palm of my hand she was so little and the first time she curled up on my shoulder to sleep, well....

This was over a year ago. KiKi is healthy and as we are discovering very intelligent. She is also a terror at times. She enjoys looking out the window when the blinds are raised enough for her to gaze and chatter at the birds flitting about the porch area. This morning we were sitting in the dining room and she started crying and chattering at us about the blinds not being up. She would walk up and down the window ledge, look at us, then go over and swat at the cord that raises the blinds and stare us down again...she repeated until we opened the window blinds...what a smart cat, but here is the terror part, she knocked down my workout shorts which were hanging in the bathroom and proceeded to pull out the entire drawstring. Hmmmm?!!! She's probably getting on my computer in the middle of the night and surfing the net...maybe even reading this BLOG!
